I’ve settled on a basic travel capsule wardrobe so far this year, made up of pieces I have sewn myself as well as some ready-to-wear. This is all about ease of wearing and re-wearing. If you prefer to pack light and choose just key items, this could be a helpful resource!
When I pack, I mix the pieces up a bit each time, but I do tend to pick and choose the same sorts of items: easy pants/trousers that transition between day and evening, very casual tops, and a layering piece on top to help pull it all together.
I share all of the details in my video on sewing for travel! Check it out below!
Overall, my favorite fabric to sew travel clothes in is linen. Despite its tendency to wrinkle, it works great for most seasons, and airs out between wearings pretty well. It also looks more expensive than I typically feel when traveling, and I will take any boosts I can get!
I also like to choose things with stretch, especially during flights or long car rides. The white pants I am wearing in the top photo is a super soft stretch denim in sort of a stone color.
My general wardrobe packing rule is simpler the better. This leaves more room in my luggage to bring home special items!
